The Central High School Lady Raiders used Tyger Fenton’s 17 points to win their home opener 63-49 over Middle Tennessee Christian School Friday night at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym.
The Raider men kept it close but couldn’t find an answer for Derrick Spears, who finished the night with 33 points to lead MTCS to an 83-73 win.
The Lady Raiders dominated from the start. Fenton drained two 3-pointers in the opening quarter to help CHS to a 12-5 lead heading into the second quarter.
Coffee County really turned it on in the second quarter, scoring 20 points for a 32-16 lead at the half.
The Raiders fell behind early and could never fully recover in the second game of the night. They consistently trailed by double digits in the first half and despite cutting the Cougar lead to one late in the game could never take the lead.
The teams will travel to Grundy County Tuesday night, game time for the Lady Raiders is 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
