“We are really excited about bringing Jex on board to take our foundation to another level by implementing programs that will see us involving juniors year around,” said CCJGA president David Burris.

Wilson brings forty years of golf industry experience and is one of only 207 master PGA professionals in an organization of more than 25,000 men and women around the country. Wilson served in various capacities with the Tennessee PGA, including president of the organization. He was named Tennesseee PGA Professional of the Year in 1990. Wilson was formerly head golf professional at Ridgefields Country Club in Kingsport. Before taking the head professional position, Wilson had founded the Tri-Cities Junior Golf Association in 1975 as a first-year assistant.

“To have the chance to close out my career as I started it, working with junior golfers and hopefully having some role in their lives—it just doesn’t get much better than that,” Wilson said.

The Coffee County Junior Golf Association program is a 501c3 foundation headquartered at WillowBrook Golf Club in Summitville. Now entering its seventh year, CCJGA is modeled after the very successful national First Tee Program. Its mission is to introduce the game of golf to the region’s young people and connect them to the game’s core values of honesty, sportsmanship and responsibility.

Some important dates are coming up for the CCJGA and WillowBrook. Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. is CCJGA’s registration day. Parents and their children are encouraged to come out to WillowBrook to meet Wilson and sign up for the Summer Series 2013. The annual eight-week program will offer a variety of activities for all ages and skill levels.

A new program being introduced is the PGA Junior League. Modeled after Little League baseball, the program will engage children ages 8-13 with golf in a team atmosphere. For more information about PGA Junior League and any of the other programs, contact the staff at WillowBrook Golf Club at 931-728-8989. WillowBrook is located at 6751 McMinnville Highway north of Manchester.
