Thursday’s rematch between the Coffee County Middle School and West Tullahoma Middle School girls’ basketball teams provided a chance for West to avenge an ugly loss to the Lady Raiders in the season opener on Oct. 30.
The Lady Bobcats were able to hand the Lady Raiders their first Central Tennessee Conference loss, defeating CCMS in overtime by a score of 37-32 inside the Coffee County gymnasium.
Coffee County (8-2 overall) led 16-13 at the end of the third quarter, but West rallied to tie the game at 27 and force overtime, as the fourth quarter became the only period in regulation where both teams reached double digits. Marley Perry scored nine of her team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter.
Lucy Nutt scored four huge points in the overtime period, helping the Lady Bobcats pull away and end the season with a series split against the Lady Raiders.

West 40, Red Raiders 34
The Red Raider basketball team played West Tullahoma closer than the two teams’ first meeting, but would suffer a narrow 40-34 loss.
The Bobcats, who swept the season series, took a 24-17 lead at halftime. The Red Raiders (2-7 overall) were able to cut West’s lead down to two points at the end of the third quarter, but West held off Coffee County’s rally for the win.
Connor Shemwell led CCMS with 14 points.
Krys Uselton and Joe Duncan both scored 10 points for the Bobcats.
