The Westwood softball team out-dueled Moore County for a 2-1 Monday night at Lady Rocket Field.
Raven Rogers pitched a complete game one-hitter for the Lady Rockets, allowing just one hit while striking out 11. She also scored the winning run, crossing home on a dropped third strike after blasting a triple.
The team is now 9-2-1 on the season and will play Riverside Christian today (Tuesday) at 4:30 p.m. on Lady Rocket Field.
The Raiders battled South Franklin County to a 1-1 tie Monday afternoon in Winchester. South scored first before Stephen Lovins netted a goal for the Raiders as the teams were tied 1-1 at the half.
“You never want to take away from your opponent but we lacked focus and ball control,” said head coach Kenny Lockhart. “We should have won.”
The Lady Raiders swept Lawrence County on Monday 7-0. Winners were: Karlee Reed, Abby Farrell, Alex Crossland, Maddie Taylor and Kristen Shelton. In doubles play, the team of Reed and Shafer and the team of Taylor and Crossland both earned wins.
The boys team lost 5-2 against the Wildcats. Matt Johnson won in singles action and the doubles team of Andy Stout and Andrew Henley won.
The teams host Warren County today (Tuesday) at Fred Deadman Park.
