CHS graduate dies in apartment fire

Tullahoma police are awaiting the results of an autopsy on a man identified as 22-year-old Tyler Short who died in a fire early Wednesday morning.

Short was a 2006 graduate of Coffee County Central High School.

A 911 call reporting a fire in an apartment at 609 E. Moore St. was received by emergency dispatchers around 4:30 a.m.

According to Tullahoma Fire Chief Richard Shasteen, when members of the Tullahoma Fire Department arrived, smoke was coming from the apartment. Firefighters entered the dwelling, which was filled with heavy smoke, and quickly extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters then began a search and discovered Short’s body in the living...
