ANDERSON, Don, age 78 of Hillsboro, TN, passed away on April 15, 2013 at the Manchester Health Care Center. He is survived by his sons, Donny (Linda) Anderson of Manchester, TN and Stephen (Erin) Anderson of Thompson Station, TN; four grandchildren, Christopher (Brandy) Anderson, Hollyn (Adam) Clark, Casey Anderson and Autumn Anderson; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation was on Tuesday evening, April 16, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 2013 from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Vernon E. Gilliam, 92
Gilliam, Vernon E, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma at the age of 92. Mr. Gilliam was born in Coffee County to the late Albert and Jannie Owens Gilliam. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force and later went on to work as a Test Desk Manager for Bell South. Mr. Gilliam was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the Telephone Pioneers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilliam is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Whitmire Gilliam; one great-grandson, Denton George Brown; two brothers, Orville Gilliam and Estill Gilliam; and two sisters, Flora Cash and Velma Ashley. He is survived by one daughter, June Brown and her husband George of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Daniel Brown and his wife Christy of Hillsboro, Adam Brown and his wife Marissa of Cottontown, TN and Samantha Brown of Knoxville; two great grandchildren, Avery Brown and Addie Brown; niece, Carrie Sue Yerbey of Ooltewah, TN and other nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Irene Millaway of Tullahoma and brother-in-law, Ray Whitmire of Tullahoma. Visitation for Mr. Gilliam was held on Monday, April 15th, 2013 from noon-2 p.m. at Kilgore Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bob Jared and Pastor Paul Purdue officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Funeral services for Mr. T. H. Lusk, Jr., age 80, of Manchester were conducted Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with Brother Doyle Sherrill officiating. Interment followed at Lusk Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Mr. Lusk passed away suddenly, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. He was born March 10, 1933 in Coffee County, TN the son of the late Ottis Talley Hamilton Lusk, Sr., and Izzie Tucker Lusk. He retired from Batesville Casket Company as a Foreman after more than 25 years of service. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known by friends and family to be a wonderful gardener, known for his tomatoes and okra. He was an avid, diehard, University of Tennessee Volunteer football fan as well as an Atlanta Braves fan. He served for many years as the song leader at his beloved Concord Baptist Church, which his family founded well over 60 years ago. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved and served the Lord with all his heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Clayona “Judy” Ware Lusk; sisters, Martha Schultz, Zora Jernigan, Mary Jernigan Miller and a brother, Carl Lusk. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Barbara Lusk of Tullahoma; ten children, David L. Lusk and wife, Mona Lesa of Manchester; Deborah L. Reed and husband, Doug of Manchester; Carla Doak of Manchester; Hugh Michael “ Mike” Doak of Beechgrove; Stormy Monday of Peoria, IL; Barbara Lynn Gordon and husband, Jim of Coldwater, Michigan; Jackie Wilhoite and husband, Troy of Peoria, IL; June Gibbs and husband, Larry of Oliver Springs, TN; Susie Newman and husband, Steve of Tullahoma; and Markalene “ Markie” Monday, also of Tullahoma; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Marie Elizabeth “Aunt Pip” Jernigan and Earl “Uncle Jr.” Jernigan of Manchester. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons; James Lusk, David Lusk, Brian Matlock, Chase Rico, Ben Kegley and Stephen Gibbs; and as an honorary pallbearer, granddaughter, Brittany Howell. MARTIN, Paul Timothy, age 53 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013. He was a Truck Driver and Equipment Operator with the Coffee County Highway Department and a United States Navy Veteran. He was born in Manchester, TN to his parents, the late Paul Martin and Wilma Sherrill Martin. Paul enjoyed reading, fishing, “tinkering” with all types of vehicles, drag racing, off roading, helping with Hillsboro Tractor Pulls, Manchester Old Timers’ Day and just hanging out” with his buddies at the motorcycle & body shops. Paul is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Martin of Manchester, TN; sons, Philip Hall of Shady Grove, TN and Patric Hall of Manchester, TN; sister, Fran Travis of Manchester, TN; two brothers, Kevin Carr of Manchester and Orville Lee “Tad” Kirk of Alabama; and a host of other relatives and friends. Charles A. Reed, 76
REED, Charles A., age 76, passed away on April 10, 2013 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee with his loving family by his side. Mr. Reed retired as a Journeyman Electrician at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC)/Sverdrup with 36 years of dedicated service. He also served for eight years in the Air National Guard; was a 50 year member of the I.B.E.W.- International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Manchester. Mr. Reed was born at Smartt Station in Warren County, TN to his parents, the late Roy James Reed, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Tosh Reed. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Stevenson, Hazel Pistole, Ruby Capshaw and Elizabeth Reed; and brothers, Roy Reed, Jr. and Joe Reed. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ione Wiser Reed of Manchester, TN; daughter, Donna S. Chester and her husband Michael of Brentwood, TN; two grandchildren, Kyle Chester and Zane Chester both of Brentwood, TN; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Jerry Lee Shelton, 71
Jerry Lee Shelton passed away Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 in Murfreesboro, TN. After a brief sickness. He was 71 years of age. He is preceded in death by his parents Lester Lee Shelton, and Bessie Lee (Parker) Shelton, also a daughter, Melonie Rae Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Noni Rae (Davenport) Shelton, one son Randy (Shelton) Foster, two sisters, Marcia Brown of Manchester, Edith Vanatta of Murfreesboro. One brother Nickey Lee Shelton (Nancy) of Woodbury. Several nieces and nephews. Jerry was laid to rest Thursday, April 11th at Reed Cemetery in Woodbury. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He retired from Samsonite in Murfreesboro. He will be greatly missed.
