Mary Jane Rigney
Mary Jane Rigney Brewster, age 61, passed away on Friday, February 15th, 2013 at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, KY. The youngest of four, she was born on September 12th 1951 in McMinnville, TN to the late S.L. Rigney Jr. and Sarah Louise Martin Rigney. At the age of five, on her own accord, she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the Summitville United Methodist Church and remained of the Methodist faith in various churches for the rest of her life. On May 19th, 1978, following a brief courtship, she married the love of her life, William Kenneth Brewster. Together they have two sons, Mark and Bryan Brewster, both of Somerset, KY.As a career, she started work at a small retail chain (that would eventually be absorbed by Wal-Mart) in 1969 at the age of 18. Throughout the years of hard work she found success eventually becoming part of the senior procurement team at the home office in Nashville, TN. Following the merger with Wal-Mart in 1981, she took on a more challenging role as Assistant, and then Manager of the local Wal-Mart store in Somerset, KY. With almost 30 years of service, she retired in 1998. After which, she stayed busy with other business ventures and hobbies that included RV traveling, boating, and a surprising new interest in farming on her beloved “Autumn Run” farm, just west of Somerset.Survivors include her Husband Bill, Sons Mark and Bryan, Sisters Ann (Steve) Mitchell of Nashville, TN; Carolyn Rigney of Hixson, TN and Brother S.L. “Layne” Rigney III, also of Hixson, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends, including a very special friend, Linda Gosser. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. A funeral service was held Monday, February 18th at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, following a visitation Sunday, February 17th at with her first cousin, Rev. Gerald Sanders officiating in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Gloria “Bama” Brown, 86
Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria “Bama” Brown, age 86, of Manchester were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Thaddeus Ashby officiating. Entombment followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Monday, February 25, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. She was born September 17, 1926 in Chartowska Russia/Algrange, France, the daughter of the late Eugene Swirsky and Xenia Kramarewska Swirsky. Upon coming to the United States in her early 20’s, Gloria, who was quite petite in stature, was employed as a skilled welder. She and her late husband, Herbert N. Brown relocated to Manchester from Detroit, Michigan in 1986. For many years, they owned and operated Auto Trim Mart. While in Manchester, she enjoyed bowling with friends in the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday bowling leagues. She was a wonderful, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved spending time caring for her family. She also enjoyed knitting, reading and crocheting. One of her favorite past times was taking trips to Tunica and playing the slot machines. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert N. Brown on September 1, 1997; a son-in-law, George Elm; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Martinsen and siblings, Oleg Swirsky and Gogga Swirsky. Survivors include two loving daughters, Kisa Camfield and husband, Ron of Manchester; and Rebecca Elm also of Manchester; three grandchildren, Amanda Elm Brewer, Jessica Camfield Turner and Amber Camfield Bunch; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany McCormick, Dylan McCormick, Ben Brewer, Lilly Brewer, Chloe Turner and Makenzie Bunch and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Ronnie Andrew Henley, 61 of Hixson, and formerly of Hillsboro, Tennessee, died on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. Ronnie was an electrician and owned Henley Electric. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church in Manchester, Tn. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Jackson Henley. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Proctor Henley, mother, Emma Jean Henley; son, Andrew Henley; daughter, Rachel Henley; grandson, Ivan Anderson; sisters, Diana Trussell and Jennifer(Mitch) Fried; brothers, Ricky Henley and Jeff Henley, several nieces and nephews, and an extended loving family. A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at First Baptist Church of Hillsboro, Tn., with Dr. Kerry Smith and Reverend Mike Owen officiating. Rachelle Ann Torano Howard, 69
Funeral services for Mrs. Rachelle Ann Torano Howard, age 69 of Manchester were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Manchester with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Burial followed in the Hurricane Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the Howard family was from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday evening at Manchester Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Mrs. Howard passed away Monday morning at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Mrs. Howard was born in Miami, Florida the daughter of the late William Duke Speight and Bessie Copeland Speight. She was retired from the SAS Shoe Company in Tullahoma and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Manchester. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Armando Torano and E.C. Howard, and by a sister, Harriette Johnson. Mrs. Howard is survived by: one son, Armando Torano III of Manchester; two daughters, Brenda Torano and Valarie Smith, both of Manchester; two brothers, Richard Speight of Washington D.C., Duke Arthur Speight of South Carolina; grandchildren, Alexis Clem and Robert and Thomas Smith, all of Manchester; niece, Connie Crawford Johnson of Manchester; Nephew, Wade Johnson of Nashville. Cola June Lance, 75
Mrs. Cola June Lance of Bolivar departed this life at the age of 75 years Sunday night, February 17, 2013 at Van Ayer Manor in Martin, Tennessee. She was born in Warren County, Tennessee April 28, 1937 to the late Henry Curtis and Mary Magdalene Dutton Williamson. Having lived most of her life in Hardeman County, she also had previously lived in McMinnville, Tennessee as well as in Michigan. A graduate of Warren County High School,
she worked most of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of the Bolivar First Assembly of God. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Shackelford’s Bolivar Chapel with Burton Wayne McKee officiating. Burial was at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include three sons, James Bruce Lance of Bolivar, TN, Carl Wayne Lance of Belgium and Steven Douglas Lance of Bolivar, TN; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Susan, Priscilla, Melissa, Jean and Denise, all of Florida, Rebecca of San Antonio, TX, and Erica and Kelly of Bolivar, TN; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Henry Lance, who passed October 4, 1978; and a sister, Janie Williamson Tate.

Joe E. Owen, 82, formerly of Kittrell, died Friday February 22, 2013 at the home of his daughter. A native of Cannon Co., he was the son of the late Alvie A. & Daisy Patterson Owen and his wife, Mattie D. Haley Owen. Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Saturday from 4 – 8 pm. He is survived by his children, Pamela J. Funeral services for Mr. Earl Perry, age 83 of Beech Grove (Hoo Doo) were conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Mt. Ararat Church in the Hoo Doo Community with Rev. Virgil Alford officiating. Burial followed in the Manchester City Cemetery. Visitation with the family was from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Mr. Perry passed away Sunday evening at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Mr. Perry was born in Manchester, Tennessee the son of the late Lonnie and Flossie Perry. He was retired from the steel industry in Gary, Indiana with over 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Perry loved farming, fishing, watching wrestling and taking care of his family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a 2 brother, Lonnie and Horace Perry, and by a sister, Bonnie Perry. His survivors are: one sister, Doris Perry of the Hoo Doo community; sister-in-law: Audrey Louise Perry of the Hoo Doo community; nephews: Mark (Jaymie) Perry and David Perry of Hoo Doo; nieces: Wilma Perry, Emily Perry, Brenda Perry and Connie Perry, all of Hoo Doo; great nephew: Martin T.
