The CHS basketball teams hosted district leading Columbia Tuesday for Senior night.
The Lady Raiders could do nothing to slow down the Lady Lions offense as they raced out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter. The Columbia defense was stiff as well, holding CHS to just four points in the first quarter, a Tyger Fenton jumper and Aerial Williams layup. At the end of the first the home team trailed 19-4.
Lauren Brown, who led CHS with 14 points, flushed two 3-pointers for CHS in the secon and scored eight points in the quarter but at the half Columbia led 34-19.
Columbia continued to dominate in the second half, leading 52-25 at the end of three and cruised to a 60-40 win.
The boys game started out much the same with the visiting team racing out to a 7-0 lead and a 20-11 advantage after one.
The Second quarter was more of the same as the Raiders trailed by 19 at the half, 39-20.
The Raiders began playing better in the third quarter and a Lucas Crismond 3-pointer at the end of the frame cut the Columbia lead to 12, 50-38.
CHS cut into the Lion lead several times in the fourth but could never get closer than eight points as the visiting team held on for a 71-61 win.
Crismond led all scorers with 27 points and Anthony Jackson finished with 10.
Friday the Raiders and Lady Raiders will play at Tullahoma in District 8-AAA play.
