by Janet Nettles, Middle Tennessee Properties

DON’T TELL THE THIEVES YOU ARE TRAVELING

Don’t post your travel plans on social media.

Thieves troll the internet for such information.

Upload your travel holiday pictures only after your return home.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Before trimming the tree or your house, inspect all lights.

Replace broken bulbs or replace frayed cords.

Put only outdoor approve lights on the outside.

Turn holiday lights off when you go out for the evening or when going to bed.

Outdoor times are a great safety device.

TREE SAFETY

Keep trees away for open flames. Whether it’s a live or artificial

Tree it keep a safe distant away. Remember open fireplace can pop and spread ash a great distant.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS

Presents are pretty under the tree, reframe from doing so.

Burglars drive by homes casing houses looking through the window for gifts.

If there are no presents insight less reason for burglars break in.

When you are shopping, put packages in the trunk.  Don’t leave them in sight of the thieves.

STOP YOUR MAIL

Get someone to check on your home while you are gone.

Have mailed held at the post office. Stop you newspaper.  If it snows have it removed. Make the house look like someone home.

Put a timer on the inside lights. Lights coming on and going off let people think you’re home.

Think before you act and your Christmas should be Merry.
