REC accepts Cupid’s Sweetheart Pageant entries through Friday

The Manchester Arts Center is accepting entries for the annual Cupids Sweetheart Pageant that will be held, beginning at 8 a.m., Feb. 16, at the complex.

Entries, included those mailed, must be received no later than 6 p.m. on Feb. 8.

The entry fee for the pageant is $35. A copy of birth certificate or driver license must accompany registration.

The pageant is open to girls under 20 years old on the day of the pageant.

Categories include: Cupid’s Little Princess, 0-12 months-old, Cupid’s Treasure, 1-2 year-olds, Tiny Miss Cupid, 2-4 year-olds, Little Miss Cupid, 4-6 year-olds, Petite Miss Cupid, 7-9 year olds, Pre-teen Miss Cupid, 10-12, Teen Miss Cupid, 13-15 and Miss Cupid, 16-19 year-olds.

Contestants are to be signed in and ready at least 30 minutes prior to the category start time.

Optionals are available and include prettiest smile, prettiest eyes, best dressed, most photogenic, best hair, and miss beauty. The cost is $10 per optional or $45 to be in all six optionals.

A $25 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of each optional.

Those participating in the most photogenic optional must provide one photograph no smaller than a 4×6 or larger than an 8×11 inches.  The photograph must be labeled with the participants name, age and address, submitted in an envelope with the same information listed.

The pageant focuses on natural beauty.

The use of makeup on children 4 years and younger is highly discouraged.

According to pageant rules, “We expect the other age groups to have natural looking makeup if it is used. Judging is based upon natural facial beauty, so by all means, let the judges see your natural beauty.”

Braces, missing teeth, glasses, and normal childhood scrapes and bruises will not hurt the contestant’s chances.

Admission to the pageant will be $5 for adults, seniors and students those 5 or under is free.

One free adult admission is included for each contestant.

Each age group will have winner (queen), a first runner-up and a second runner-up.

New for this year will be a grand supreme prize, a $50 savings bond, for the contestant with the highest overall score.

Contestants will be allowed to perform practice walk through on the stage from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.

Participants are asked to be courteous and share this time with other contestants interested in practicing.

The optionals will compete first. The contestants participating will line up and be judged in groups.

Once the judging for optionals has been completed, the individual contests will begin. Once all contestants in the age category have finished the individual competition, there will be a final line up.

Crowning will take place after each individual age group.
