The Coffee County Red Raiders picked up their tenth baseball win of the season against Beech in a rain-shortened, 6-1 contest at Powers Field.
Beech scored their only run in the first inning. Coffee County responded with three in bottom of the first when Hunter Smithson doubled to knock in Peyton Meeker and Stanton Keele followed up with another double to score Tyler Cavender and Smithson.
Coffee County posted three more in the third as Keele scored on Jacob Prater’s single, and Trace Friedlein followed with a double to drive in Prater and John Reece Gilmer.
Coffee County starter Kyle Douglas got the win. In four innings he allowed two
hits, walked none while striking out five, and gave up one earned run. Gilmer struck out one in two innings of relief.
The Raiders are now 10-22 for the year and 6-5 in their last 11 games. They are currently tied with Warren County for second place in District 6-AAA with a 5-5 district record. Coffee County will finish the regular season playing Warren County in Manchester on Monday and in McMinnville on Tuesday.
