Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves (D), who has served in his position since 1998, Thursday (Nov. 9) told the Times he plans to run for re-election in the 2018 election.
Graves said he is not yet ready to retire.
“My family wants me to retire, but I’m 59 years old. I’m too young to retire,” Graves laughed.
Other county positions up for re-election next year are county mayor, county trustee, county register of deeds, county circuit court clerk and all 21 county commission seats.
The county primary election is set for May 1, and elections are set for Aug. 2.
