Tennis Raiders win matches against Warren, White counties

The Coffee County Central High School tennis team picked up district wins at home this week against Warren and White Counties.

On Thursday the Lady Raiders won five singles matches against White County. Winning for the Coffee County girls were Hollie Moore, Abby Ferrell, Maddie Taylor, Kristen Shelton and Alex Crossland. Winning at boys’ singles were Brock Ivey-Bodman, Kyle Johnson, Lucas Crismond and Zach Taylor. Ivey-Bodman and Lake Elam also won their doubles match.

Singles winners were Ivey-Bodman, Matt Johnson and Kyle Johnson, and doubles winners were Ivey-Bodman and Elam and Taylor and Austin Ledford.

The Lady Raiders lost two matches to seven against Warren County. Picking up wins for the girls were Audra Schaffer in singles and Moore and Maddie Taylor in doubles. Ali Shelton and Alex Crossland won in JV doubles.

The Raider tennis team was set to play Cumberland County at Crossville Monday, and the boys were hoping to lock up second place in the district with a victory. Results, however, were not available at press time.

The Raiders’ next match is against Lincoln County Wednesday in Fayetteville. Team tournament play-in games are scheduled for Thursday and Frida
