If you are planning to buy the most important person in your life a chocolate treat this Valentine’s Day, consider a gift as special as your feelings.

Water’s Edge Chocolates in Tullahoma offers an innovative selection of chocolates that are handmade daily from their converted flower shop storefront.

“We are not a box store that gets our products from a factory.  We put love in each and every piece of chocolate we make,” Ginny Wilson, president of Water’s Edge Chocolates.

Little did Ginny Wilson know that when started work as a chocolatier in college, that one day she would return to the sweet stuff as a profession.

Ginny and Randy Wilson started Water’s Edge in their home in November 2012.

“We went around to local places and promoted our business and created a local following,” she said.

Jump ahead three years and a lot of hard work and chocolates later, they moved into the building that was formerly Crimms Florist, 206 S. Anderson St. in Tullahoma.

The Wilsons converted part of the structure into a storefront, leaving the glassed-in kitchen open for customers to smell the rich aroma of what the day’s product.

“We kind of hit the ground running and kept going,” she said.

“Randy and I used to live on the lake. One of our favorite spots was hanging out in our hammocks on the water’s edge. So, this is a passion for me. Through that we created a place we like to be.”

Ginny said that, naturally, that she loves chocolate and the product is a creative extension to that passion.

“It’s a creative outlet for me. I like to be a part of peoples’ special events, birthdays or whatever. I love to see the smile – the joy on their faces when they receive something.

“Chocolate is an expression for me to have that experience and to give them joy.”

Ginny worked at a chocolate store in college.

“I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed it until I was out of college and just needed something different from what I was doing.”

She never regrets a day coming into the store and creating.

“We have anything from chocolate strawberries to popcorn, chocolate Nutter Butters to Oreos, frozen truffles – crispy bites to chocolate covered cherries,” Ginny said.

There are also assorted baskets and gift packages readymade.

“We’re working on new things every day,” she added.

For Valentines, strawberries are always a favorite.

“We’ve got a box of strawberries and a platter. Other than that we have five or six baskets just for Valentine’s Day. Our team has worked really hard to bring fun things and highlight the day.”

Naturally, February is a busy time for Water’s Edge.

“This is our sixth one. We don’t get any sleep. My teammates are here from sunup to sundown. We work really hard. It’s a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun,” Ginny said.

Water’s Edge offers dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate varieties for most items.
