Bridgestone accident kills a man

An accident at Bridgestone has left one man dead.

"A local family is mourning the death of Beau Christopher Lowe, 33, who was killed Monday morning at Bridgestone," The Southern Standard reports.

According to an initial report from the Warren County Sheriff's Department, it appears a bolt broke on a steel mold weighing between 1,400 and 2,000 pounds. The mold then fell on Lowe, according to Southern Standard.

The family has been notified.

At Bridgestone Americas, the well-being and safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors is our most important value, said Emily Weaver, director of Communications for Bridgestone Americas, Inc.

“On Monday, June 8, a contractor who worked at our Warren County Truck and Bus Radial Tire Plant passed away following an accident at the facility,” Weaver said in an email to The Manchester Times. “We are currently investigating the situation. At this time, we do not have any further details about this incident. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and co-workers at our Warren County operation. Counseling is being made available for those in need of support.”
