UPDATE 1:50 p.m., Sept. 13: Shooter is still at large. At least four people injured, one dead.Â
UPDATE: 11:30 a.m., Sept. 13: Alleged shooter is currently at large. He is a black male and is considered armed and dangerous. He is driving a black Toyota Camry.Â
The incident started with a black Dodge Charger, with a Missouri license plate travelling on the interstate. The vehicle had four occupants. They were in an argument and sideswiped a vehicle. They took the vehicle down in a grassy area. The driver has shot three people in the vehicle. One is deceased, two injured. The driver then stole the vehicle that was sideswiped and taken down. The occupants of that vehicle aren’t injured but are traumatized. The carjacker then ditched the car, going eastbound on 24, crossed the interstate and carjacked another vehicle. He is at large, armed and dangerous, according to Billy Butler with Coffee County Sheriff's Department.Â
Officials say there were two other victims. One is an elderly female and one a truck driver. They have been transported to the hospital.
STORY POSTED 11 a.m., Sept. 13: Several people, possibly four, were shot in a carjacking incident on Interstate 24 near Exit 97. The incident started with a carjacking. The intestate is closed both directions. Tennessee Highway Patrol is on the scene.
Coffee County Sheriff’s Department and Emergency Medical Services are on the scene. There are multiple patients and one fatality.
