Coffee County Manchester Public Library’s summer reading program starts May 24 with an ice cream kick-off event, starting at 2 p.m.
Participants birth-18 years old can read books for prizes through June 30.
Additionally, activities have been planned daily for a range of age groups.
Toddler Time is 10 a.m. each Thursday with activities to promote vocabulary, motor skills and social interaction. Family story hour is at 10 a.m. on Mondays for ages 3 and up.
Each week an exciting presentation will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. First up is Tom Mason and the Buccaneers on May 29, followed by Mr. Bond’s Science Guys on June 5, Jerry White the magician on June 12, the traveling theater troupe Hampstead Stage Company on June 19 and a retro-themed pizza party on June 26.
Fridays are space days for ages 6-12. Each week will feature and activity or presentation on space. NASA Ambassador Denise Zigler will speak June 21. Drop in scavenger hunts for all ages will be from 2-4 p.m. on Fridays.
Teen Time for ages 10-17 will be Tuesdays at 2 p.m. Activities will include making a comet, a rover challenge and other space-themed programs.
Teens and adults are invited to Stitch Wits from 3-7 p.m. on Thursdays for drop in projects.
