The Teen Actors Guild production of Newsies, the smash-hit musical, will play at the Manchester Arts Center Aug. 2 through 11.
Millennium’s production features a cast of over 30 local teens (and a few adults) under the direction of Landon Spangler.
“I’ve never worked with a more talented and hard-working cast. This show is a visual spectacle that you don’t want to miss,” he said.
Choreographer Danelle Afflerbaugh says, “Audiences have come to expect spectacular dancing from ‘Newsies.’ This cast of skilled dancers will not disappoint.”
She added in a social media plug for the show, “I didn't hold back one bit with the steps for this show, we haven't had to water down one piece, and these actors/dancers have risen to the challenge. I say as humbly as possible, nothing of this quality/caliber has hit the stage in a 50 mile radius.”
Based on the 1992 cult-classic movie, Newsies’ musical score is by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin). Performance are at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays, Aug. 2 - 11. Tickets are $15, $10 for students, $13 for seniors/military at millenniumrep.org, or call 931-570-4489.
The Manchester Arts Center is located at 128 E. Main St.
