Rally Cats tennis
Rally Cats is a beginner youth tennis program for youth ages 5 through 12 that teaches the game in a fun, stress-free environment. Sessions are weekly on Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Sept. 7 - Oct. 26. All equipment is provided. Registration begins Aug. 13. There is a $20 registration fee.
Mud, Sweat and Gears Mountain Bike Club
The Mud, Sweat and Gears Mountain Bike Club is a club for grades fifth through middle school. The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center starting on Aug. 21. This a free program. Transportation is provided from city schools to the recreation complex by the department.
Makos swim team registration
The Manchester MAKOS will be accepting registrations Aug. 20 – 22 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Manchester Recreation Center for youth ages 4-18 years old. First time swimmers should bring swimsuits for evaluation. No experience is necessary. All returning swimmers must sign-up again. Space is limited, so arrive early.
Amazing Family Night
The Manchester Recreation Complex will hold an Amazing Family Night on Friday, Aug. 24, from 7 - 9 p.m. Admission to the Manchester Recreation Complex will be free with an adult. Enjoy swimming, the youth wellness room, basketball gym, free snacks, health assessments and helpful information.
To kick off the Labor Day weekend, the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department will show a free outdoor movie on Friday, Aug. 31. The movie will start at approximately 7:30 pm. The title is yet to be announced. Check Manchester Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook page to see the movie that is selected.
Manchester Recreation Complex Labor Day hours
The Manchester Recreation Complex will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, except the outdoor and indoor pools will be open from noon to 4:45 p.m. The remainder of the complex is closed in observance of Labor Day.
Dusty Elam Basketball sign-ups
Dusty Elam Memorial Youth Basketball program sign-ups will be Sept. 4-Oct. 9. The cost to participate in the program is $55 per child; financial aid is available for those that qualify. The basketball program is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through the third grade. The first game will be Saturday, Nov. 10. Rec. Complex lock-in
The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department will host a lock-in at the recreation complex for children ages 5 -12 on Friday, Sept. 7, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Participants must pre-register by Wednesday, Sept. 5. There is a $25 registration fee. The event includes games, swimming and a small meal.
Pooch Pool Paw-ty
The annual Pooch Pool Paw-ty will be Sunday, Sept. 9, from 1-3 p.m. in the outdoor pool. Admission is $5 per dog. All dogs must have proof of current vaccinations. No humans allowed past knee-deep water in the pool. When dogs are not swimming, they must be on a leash. The owner must clean up all “accidents.” Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.

“School of Rock” TPAC trip
The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department will host a trip to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) show “School of Rock” on Saturday, Sept. 15. The show starts at 2 p.m. Transportation will leave from the Recreation Complex at 11 a.m., with lunch before the show in Murfreesboro. All seats are Orchestra seats. Manchester Recreation Complex Closed
The recreation complex will be closed for annual maintenance from Monday, Sept. 17-22. The recreation complex will reopen on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. The front desk will be open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during the week of Sept. 17 - 22, to process registrations for activities, facility rentals, and administrative tasks.
Children’s after-school program
The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department is starting a children’s after-school program (C.A.P.) that will operate Monday through Friday 3-6 p.m. through the school year. C.A.P. children will get to use the Recreation Complex and indoor pool, play outside, have a healthy snack daily and special activities. The department will pick up children from Manchester City Schools and transport them to the Recreation Complex. This is not a drop in program, children must be registered per week and the cost is $35 per week regardless of how many days you attend that week because parents are reserving a spot on the bus. Children who do not attend Manchester City Schools are welcome to participate but must provide their own transportation to the Recreation Complex. For more information, call 728-0273.
Fall Break Day Camp
Fall Break Day Camp will be offered Oct. 1-5for a cost of $60 for non-members and $54.50 for members. Cost is per child. Call 931-728-0273 for more information.
Fall break pool hours
The Manchester Rec. Complex will offer extended swim hours for fall break Oct. 1-5. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
