Dept. of Corrections to host ‘Green Mile’ run

The Tennessee Department of Corrections will host a benefit 5K on May 5 at the former Nashville prison used to film “The Green Mile” and several country music videos. The 5K will start at 8:30 a.m., a 1 1/2 mile run at 8:45 a.m. and a guided walking tour at 10 a.m. Participation is limited to 500 people.  Tours are limited to the grounds. Proceeds will go to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. Registration is $25. Go to to register.  Opened in 1898, the Tennessee State Prison has been closed since 1992. It has been featured in “Nashville,” “Marie,” “Ernest Goes to Jail,” “Against the Wall,” “The Green Mile,” “The Last Castle” two of Eric Church’s music videos “Lightning” and “Homeboy”, and Pillar’s “Bring Me Down” music video and  VH1’s Celebrity Paranormal Projectfilmed.
