Manchester’s Old Timers Day parade Grand Marshall this year will be local personality Sally Berryman. The theme for the 2016 event is “Honoring Our Hometown Heroes,” and will include $500 in total prizes.
“We have music and activities all day for free,” said OTD board member Rhonda Steele. “At high noon, we have a Wild West Shootout reenactment by Riverchase Posse. Free games for kids and adults, free train rides, petting zoo, FROYO eating contest,” she said. “Come join us in celebrating our history.” Being honored this year will be Manchester Police Department Captain Dwight Vandergriff, Manchester Fire Department, Emmett “Casey” Wright, Coffee County Sheriff’s Department Pam Freeman, 911 Communication Center director Dianne Argraves, Coffee County Rescue Squad’s Neal Simmons, Coffee County Ambulance Service’s Tommy Grey, New Union Volunteer Fire Department’s Jeff Tomes, Hickerson Station Volunteer Fire Department’s Gene Nickles, Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department’s Keith James, a member of Summitville Volunteer Fire Department and North Coffee Volunteer Fire Department’s James Teal. “We have over 70 food/craft vendor booths,” Steele said. “We are still accepting parade entries.” For more information, call (931) 273-1382, visit Manchester Old Timers Day on Facebook or email email@example.com.
