There is not a lot that we have to do to our cars in this kind of weather. Check heaters, defrosters, wiper blades and this a good time to check the condition of our coolant.
With cool mornings, our windshields will fog up. Check the condition of your wiper blades and the windshield washer system and fill your reservoir. Check the defroster. Sometimes the motor that makes air come out of the defrost vents will not work. This is not as much of a problem on older vehicles because they have cables that do that. If the mode motor does not work, it will have to be replaced. The air temperature door motor may be sluggish also, but it does work with A/C when changing temperature settings. The most common problem with low vent temps is low coolant. We need to check coolant level, also the condition and freezing point of coolant. We probably will not have any freezing temps for a while, but now is a good time to check so we don’t forget. It may be a good time for a coolant system flush and new antifreeze.
This is also a good time to check your tires. With possible freezing weather coming, it is important to have good tread on your tires for traction. Air pressure is important, so make sure those tires have the proper amount of air for your winter driving.
