Area teen Callie Parker, 13, the daughter of Donald Parker and Tara Bessling has been named a state finalist at the National American Miss Tennessee pageant to be held in September in Franklin.
Parker is an eighth grader at Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro. She is on the Manchester Makos Swim Team, participates in Beta Club and has won the Make our Lives Easier category at the Tennessee Invention Convention.
If Parker wins in September, she will advance to the national pageant, and receive $1,000 cash plus crown, banner, bouquet of roses and air fare to the national pageant held in Disneyland in California. Contests are held for girls aged four to 18 and split into five age groups.
Emphasis is placed on self-confidence learning new skills and the all-American spirit of fun for family and friends.
Parker is the granddaughter of Ken and Helen DeBellis of Manchester and Jimmy and Nora Jones of Shelbyville.
