Joe Pat Cope has turned the Lady Raiders into one of the most competitive teams in the district. It’s no wonder Coach Cope is taking home the honor of finest coach for the second straight year.
“My favorite part of this job is getting to be around the kids and instilling in them the love of basketball that I have always had,” Cope said. “I’m always doing something basketball related. My assistant coach and I live close to each other, so we’ll usually be discussing film or drawing up plays when we have free time.”
The 2019 season had the Lady Raiders winning the district with a 27-4 record while going undefeated in district play during the regular season.
“I am honored and humbled to be able to receive this award,” Cope said. “To have my peers and neighbors vote for me is more than I can ever ask for, and I’m fortunate to be where I am.”
