The Coffee County Board of Education approves their academic calendars two years in advance. With their 2019-20 calendar already on the books, they unanimously approved their 2020-21 school year dates during their meeting on Monday, Jan. 14.
Deputy Director of Schools Joey Vaughn presented five different options to the board and the voted on the fourth option due to its desirable starting/end dates and staff development days.
A majority of the staff development days in 2020-21 line up with holiday breaks. In two years, the first day of school will be on Aug. 3, 2020 and the last day and graduate will be May 28, 2021.
This is on par with the 2019-20 calendar, as school is set to begin on Aug. 1 (first full day on Aug. 5) and end on May 22.
The 2020-21 county calendar has been shared with Manchester City Schools.
