Coffee County confirmed COVID-19 cases increase

UPDATE: This story was updated to include information about an error which led to the number of confirmed cases to be listed as seven instead of five. 


The number of confirmed cases in Coffee County was listed as seven on the Tennessee Department of Health's website at 2 p.m. today.

However, Director of Coffee County EMA Allen Lendley said there is an error and Coffee County has five cases. 

"The Covid-19 case count within Coffee County is still only at five," Lendley said. "We were notified by the TN Department of Health that there was an error made on the numbers that came out at 2 p.m. today Apr. 6, 2020."

The COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is now 3,802 as of Apr. 6, including 65 deaths, 352 hospitalizations and 356 recovered.

Laboratory reports of positive cases are reported to metro and local health departments as soon as results are available. State numbers are updated at 2 p.m. CDT daily. There may be a lag in the reporting of cumulative numbers at the state level, according to the department of health.
