Coffee County has a total of 395 confirmed COVID-19 cases, as of Aug. 1, according to the department of health. The number of active cases is 219, and 174 people have recovered. The first two COVID-19 deaths in Coffee County were reported yesterday.
The active cases are 0.39% of the Coffee County population. Yesterday, the active cases were 0.35% of the population.
When the active cases are fewer than 0.5% of the Coffee County population (fewer than 282 active cases), the spread is considered minimal, according to Coffee County, Manchester City and Tullahoma City Schools. The schools proceed with their traditional schedule.
When the number of active cases is between 0.5% and 1%, the spread of the virus is considered moderate, and schools will adjust their schedules, and implement a combination of on-site and distance learning.
If the active cases exceed 1% of the population (565), the spread would be considered substantial, and distance learning will be fully implemented. No students will be in the school buildings.
The percentages are calculated based on population of 56,500.
The total COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is now 108,184 as of August 1, 2020 including 1,067 deaths, 4,724 hospitalizations and 67,651 recovered.
