UPDATE July 29: The Coffee County fair will be held this year. The fair association made its final decision Tuesday.
"It was with much deliberation through multiple meetings and a final meeting tonight that lasted almost four hours, that the board has come to an agreement to move forward with the 2020 Coffee County Fair," board members said. "However, this year's fair will look a little different, but we wanted to try to bring back some normalcy to our community. We appreciate all of the communities outpouring support and look forward to seeing you all."
ORIGINAL STORY: The Coffee County Fair is still set for Sept. 19-26, and the Coffee County Fair Association will make its final decision on Tuesday, July 28.
“We have not canceled,” said Angie Banks, board member of the Coffee County Fair Association. “We have a meeting next week, when we will be making our final decision.”
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the office at the fairgrounds, according to Banks.
The 13-member board will decide if the fair will happen in September.
If members of the fair association vote to go forward with the fair, it will be held Sept. 19-26.
If the fairgrounds welcome visitors in September, the board will take precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, said Banks.
“We will be encouraging social distancing requirements,” Banks said, adding the carnival organizers have specific guidelines they have to follow.
The fair is held at the fairgrounds, 99 Lakeview Dr., Manchester.
Coffee County Fair has brought joy to locals for 160 years. The fair offers music entertainment, carnival rides, beauty pageants, various exhibits, and food from local vendors.
