First COVID-19 case in Franklin County confirmed

Franklin County Emergency Management Agency has announced there’s a confirmed COVID-19 case in Franklin County.

“We received word this morning from the TN Department of Health that Franklin County has its first confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus,” Franklin County EMA stated in a Facebook post March 22. “The patient is currently being treated and in isolation. The health department is in the process of notifying those people who may have been in contact with the patient. If you think you may have the virus and develop a fever and symptoms, call your health care provider for medical advice or you can call the COVID-19 Public Information Line at (833) 556-2476.”

Earlier this week, another case of COVID-19 was reported in Sewanee, but it appears that’s a different case. Franklin County EMA stated this case is counted in another county because that individual doesn’t live in Franklin County.

“That is the reason it doesn't show on the state list of confirmed cases,” Franklin EMA stated.
