Officer action required to remove people who had ignored the barrier tape on Sunday at Rutledge Falls area

Approximately twenty-four hours after the Coffee County Sheriff's Department closed Rutledge Falls to the public, officer action was required to remove people who had ignored the barrier tape on Sunday afternoon (Apr. 5), according to David Welborn, who lives near Rutledge Falls.

Four patrol cars were present, said Welborn.

"License plates in the parking area included Williamson County and out-of-state," Welborn said.

The owners and caretakers closed Rutledge Falls area yesterday, Apr. 4, until further notice.

"This is for the safety and security of the public," Coffee County Sheriff's Department officials said. "We ask you to respect the owners decision in this matter. Please everyone be mindful to keep social distancing as much as possible. Stay safe and at home. We are here if you need us."
