Sharon Chaffin and Earnest Chaffin, of Lakewood area, have been arrested and charged with cruelty to animals.
The two individuals were arrested after 17 dogs were found in “poor” condition.
Records of Coffee County Animal Control show that the 17 pit bulls were confiscated on Aug. 30 and Aug. 31. Their state was marked as “poor.”
The two suspects were booked in Coffee County Jail on Sept. 10, and were charged with animal cruelty. Each is held on a $8,500 bond.
The 17 dogs are currently at the Coffee County Animal Shelter. With a capacity of 17, the facility is now housing 30 dogs.
