Crime story

A Shelbyville child is dead from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot that happened Monday afternoon, according to the Times-Gazette.

The six-year-old boy, whose name was not listed, was said to have picked up the gun while his mother was in the restroom.

The boy was airlifted to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The T-G reports that two other children were in the Anthony Lane apartment but did not witness the shooting.
