Coffee County deputies responded to an emergency call Friday, Jan. 24. An 11-year-old child was bit by a dog that was left running loose by the neighbors, according to Coffee County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Frank Watkins.
“The dog attacked the child,” Watkins said.
The child was taken to a local hospital and then to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
“We expect the child to be back home today,” Watkins said.
The child suffered several injuries, including injuries to his face.
The dog was a Pit bull, according to Watkins.
“The dog had to be put down,” he said.
