Winners were recently announced for the 2018 Tennessee Dog Park Dash. Manchester will receive a $25,000 grant toward an off-leash dog park.

Director Manchester Parks and Recreation Bonnie Gamble said the Recreation Commission will meet Thursday, July 12 to finalize the location of the park.

Part of a multi-year commitment toward making Tennessee the most pet friendly state, 37 communities will receive funds to build or enhance off-leash dog parks through funds of the Boyd Foundation.

Other Middle Tennessee winning communities are Gallatin, Lawrenceburg, Lewisburg,, McMinnville, Mount Pleasant, Murfreesboro, Spring Hill and White House, Tennessee.

To be considered for a Tennessee Dog Park Dash grant, applicants were asked to verify land availability for the proposed park and provide a comprehensive narrative of the community, along with letters of support from civic leaders.

The Boyd Foundation is guided by Randy Boyd, the founder of PetSafe, alongside his wife, Jenny. Randy Boyd is a former commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
