Daniel “Danny” Carroll, 73, of Manchester, went to be with the Lord, suddenly, on April 15, 2020, in his home. He was born to his parents, Oliver “Buster” and Sadie Carroll, on May 30, 1946, in Woodbury. He and his siblings tragically lost both of their parents by 1948, and were then raised by relatives. Daniel was raised by his Aunt, Ernestine Pauline “Polly” Vickroy. At age 19, Daniel joined the U.S. Navy and was very proud to have served in Vietnam. He was always a dreamer and tried his hand at various things during his life, including earning his certificate for welding and for electronics. Although he did many things throughout his life to support his family, he was mostly known for owning and operating different gas stations over the years in Coffee County. He was predeceased by his parents – Buster and Sadie Carroll, and mom – Polly Vickroy, son Daniel Layton, and grandchildren - Justin Wilder and Emmalynn Jernigan. Daniel is survived by his third wife, Gail Richardson; second wife Helen Carroll (of 42 years), and their three children; Nathan (Rebecca) Carroll, Melissa (Joey) McCullough, and Elizabeth (Josh) Jernigan; his first wife, Lavonne Teall and their two children; Todd Marshall and Dani Wood; and a host of grandchildren. Memorial service was held on May 18 at Grace Baptist Church in Manchester.
