Central High School baseball was back in action Saturday, April 14, for the second day of the Grundy County Tournament. The Raiders started strong in both of their games, defeating Grundy County 12-1 and following with a 7-4 win over Huntsville.

CHS powered ahead to a 4-0 lead over Grundy in the top of the first inning, starting with a line drive from Kyle Farless to drive in Hayden Skipper. On the next at-bat, Lane Spry followed with a fly ball out to center field to bring in Griffin Meeker. The Raiders ended the inning with two more runs from Kael McCall and Farless before adding another eight through the game's remainder.

CHS finished with seven hits, led by Farless with three. Braden Brown pitched through all five innings, striking out six while surrendering five hits and one run.

The Raiders again jumped out early against the Huntsville Titans, starting with a home run from Skipper in the game's first at-bat. The Raiders added two more in the first inning when Spry hit a fly ball to center, sending home Connor Shemwell and Bryson Hullett. 

Huntsville got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning, but CHS stayed ahead to close the tournament with a win.

The team finished with seven hits, led by Skipper with three. Brady Nugent started on the mound for CHS, finishing with one strikeout, one hit and two runs through two innings. 

Skipper and Shemwell came in relief, with Shemwell striking out five and surrendering four hits and two runs through three innings. Skipper came in for one inning and struck out three.
