Closing out spring practice

CHS Coach Doug Greene talks with his players prior to switching from drills to scrimmage on Friday, May 17 at the high school practice field.

Central High School football hit the road this week for a pair of seven-on-seven scrimmage tournaments at Walker Valley and Shelbyville High Schools. The Red Raiders showed improvement over the course of the week and wrapped up with a winning record in their Shelbyville scrimmages.

The Shelbyville event also closed out the team's seven-on-seven schedule for the summer.

The week began on Tuesday, July 16, with three seven-on-seven matches at Walker Valley. Both sides of the ball had notable plays. This included a three and out for the defense against Ooltewah and a strong performance from the team's running game.

The Raiders returned to action on Thursday, July 18, at Shelbyville. The offense continued to click as the team picked up a 3-2 record against opponents for the day.

The next preseason action for the Raiders will be on August 2, when Stewarts Creek comes to Manchester for a scrimmage at Carden-Jarrell field.
