District champs continue postseason success

Members of the CHS track and field team celebrate their district title the week before sectionals on Friday, May 3 at Tullahoma. CHS continued its postseason by qualifying six athletes for the state meet on Friday, May 10.

Central High School track and field traveled to Rhea County High School Friday, May 10, for the TSSAA Division 1 Section 2 Large meet. Six athletes made the cut and qualified for states.

In boys' events, Trace Bryant took third place in the pole vault with a height of 10' 6" to punch his ticket. Bryant set a new personal-best in the event. The 4 x 400 relay team of Bryant, John Dobson, Kelvin Verge and Renato Garcia also qualified with a fourth-place finish at 3:32.88. 

On the girls' side, Macy Tabor came in fourth place in the high jump with a height of 4' 10" to earn a spot in the state meet. In the pole vault, Chloe Haggard also qualified with a fourth-place finish at 6' 6". 

Friday's results ensured CHS will send an athlete to the state meet for the 28th straight season.
