Coffee County Middle School basketball was back on the court on Monday, Nov. 11.
On the road in Shelbyville to take on Harris, the Lady Raiders dropped their second straight game in a 29-22 loss. This was also the team's first conference loss of the season. On the boys' side, the Red Raiders added another game to the win column with a dominant 50-18 victory.
The girls' game opened with CMS ahead 7-2 in the first quarter. Harris was able to climb back and seal the win over the Lady Raiders.
Olivia Vinson and Channah Gannon led the way for the girls with seven points each. Addi Sartain netted four points.
After a 4-4 start at the end of the first quarter, the CMS boys took off for 18 points in the second quarter to lead 22-8 at halftime. The Raiders' offensive explosion continued in the second half, with 15 more points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth.
On the defensive end, CMS held Harris to 10 points over the same span to seal the win.
Ethan Hargrove led the Raiders with 10 points, followed by Brendon Sheppard at eight. Jackson Shemwell brought in another seven points. Cooper Reed, Evan Kirby and Brennan Young all recorded six points each. Brady Daugherty hit a three-pointer in the fourth quarter to finish with three points. Colter Neel and Caden Davis each hit two points.
