After falling in its conference semifinals, Coffee County Middle School girls' basketball season continued this week. The Lady Raiders accepted a bid to compete in the Class AAA Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association Section 2 Tournament being held at Stewarts Creek Middle School.

Finishing third in the Central Tennessee Conference tournament secured CMS a No. 3 seed from Area 6 in the eight-team tournament. 

Fourth quarter rally pushes CMS past Oakland

The Lady Raiders began the tournament on Monday, Jan. 28 against Oakland Middle. A high-scoring fourth quarter secured the girls a 32-26 win and a chance to advance to the semifinals.

Down 22-16 at the top of the fourth quarter, CMS took off for 16 points over the final minutes, while holding the Lady Chargers to four points. The Lady Raiders were on fire from the free throw line in the fourth, hitting 10-13.

Alivia Reel led the way for CMS with 13 points. Chloe Gannon followed with eight points. Maggie Crouch and Olivia Vinson had four points each. 

Lady Raiders fall to White County

CMS was back at Stewarts Creek Wednesday for a rematch with White County. Taking on the team that stopped them in the CTC Tournament semifinal, the Lady Raiders fell to the Warriorettes 38-22.

White County took an early advantage, holding the Lady Raiders to single digits through the first half. CMS was unable to recover and added another loss to the Warriorettes this season. 

Gannon and Aleayia Barnes led the way for the Lady Raiders with six points each. Crouch followed with four, ahead of Holli Hancock's three.
