The Coffee County Youth Bass Club made a big splash at this weekend’s regional tournament at Old Hickory Lake. The Raiders reeled in wins at both the junior and high school levels to take home first place in both divisions.
The Raiders were led by the team of Colby Thurmond and Jacob Garms. The duo came in first place overall with five fish weighing in at 8.08 pounds. The extra weight allowed Thurmond and Garms to edge past Whitwell High School’s Westin Moss and Josh Willis who brought in five fish for 7.81 pounds in second place.
The Raider team of Isaiah Owens and Garrett Davis followed in 37th place with one fish at 1.58 pounds. Branson and Dawson Wells came in 44th with one fish coming in at 1.03 pounds.
In the junior division, Coffee County was led by the team of Kylan Mantooth and Lance Marcrom. The boys brought home a first place finish with three fish weighing in at 6.93 pounds. Their biggest catch earned the Mantooth and Marcrom the division’s big fish honors, reeling in a 3.3 pounder.
Delainee Driver and Grayson Mangrum also competed for the Raiders, but the team did not reel in a keeper to place in the division.
Coffee County will be back in the water Saturday, Oct. 20, for a tournament at Percy Priest Lake at Fate Sanders Marina in Smyrna.
