The Coffee County Raiders 10U team competed in the Tennessee Youth Baseball Association Recreation Division State Tournament in Murfreesboro this past weekend. After a 5-0 start to the three-day competition, the Raiders defeated the Liberty Patriots 14-4 in the championship game on Sunday, July 14.
Down 4-2 in the top of the third inning, the Raiders bounced back with a three-run homer from Trace Parker to put the team up 7-4.
The boys scored an additional seven runs over the game’s remainder to capture the title. On the mound, Caleb Crouch struck out six Liberty batters.
Parker also pitched a shutout in an 11-0 semifinal win over McMinnville.
Other key players included Chase Leonard, who led the team with nine doubles and 18 RBIs throughout the tournament. Tristan Spencer, Eli Hancok, Grayson Sadler and Leiton Yancer also picked up wins on the mound.
This was the team's third year competing in the tournament.
