Rockets shut out Cannon County

Westwood Middle School footballstayed at home on Monday, August 19, for a rematch of their season opener with Cannon County. Once again, the Rockets went up early and stayed ahead for a 37-0 victory.

Jayden Carter recorded three touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Izick Sierra had two more touchdowns and an extra point kick. 

CMS volleyball defeats Harris in three sets

Coffee Middle volleyball was back at CMS for its home opener Monday evening for a rematch against Harris. Similar to their previous matchup, the Lady Raiders bounced back from a first-set loss to defeat Harris 2-1.

The girls fell in the first set 12-25 but did not stay down for long. A six-point CMS streak to open the second turned into a 25-6 win to force a third set.

The competitive third set went to extra points, but the Lady Raiders held on to win 18-16 and remain undefeated. All three CMS victories have now been 2-1 comebacks.

CMS girls soccer falls to North Franklin

Coffee County Middle School girls' soccer stayed at home Monday for its regular-season opener against North Franklin. The varsity Lady Raiders were unable to net a goal in a 6-0 loss. 

North jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the game's first few minutes and led CMS 5-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Lady Raiders gave up one more goal. Sidney Gillie finished with eight saves. 

The JV Lady Raiders trailed North 4-2 at halftime, but were unable to add any more in a 9-2 loss. Andrea Lopez scored both goals with two assists from Tara Demonbreun.
