Westwood routs Cornersville The Westwood Middle baseball team (2-0 overall) hosted Cornersville Middle School on Monday night and claimed an 11-0 victory over the Bulldogs. The Rockets exploded offensively, rattling off two runs in the first, second, third, and fifth innings, and three runs in the sixth inning. A two RBI single from Westwood’s Trenton Thompson would end the game via the mercy rule. Thompson got the win on the mound for the Rockets, as well. Westwood’s next game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, March 8, as they host Community at Fred Deadman Park. CMS Lady Raiders drop Warren County The Coffee County Middle School Lady Raider softball team used a five-run fourth inning to propel past Warren County 7-4 Monday night in McMinnville. The win improved CMS to 3-0. Kiya Ferrell led the Lady Raider charge at the plate, finishing with a walk and a triple, and stole a base in the first inning as well. Alyssa McClanahan would also tack on a run and an RBI single for the Lady Raiders. Coffee Middle’s next game is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, as they host Warren County at Coffee County Middle School. CMS soccer falls to Warren County Warren County’s Pioneers scored five second half goals to drop the visiting CMS Red Raiders 7-1 Monday night. Rueben Alvarez scored the only goal for CMS. The Raiders trailed 2-0 at halftime before the Pioneers broke the game open in the second half. The loss drops CMS to 1-1-1 on the season. The Raiders will be back in action Thursday, March 8 as they travel to South Franklin for a conference match.
