It was a long bus ride back to northern Warren County for the Dibrell Wildcat crew as they were blown out this past week by the Westwood teams with the girls winning 43-17 while the Dibrell boys couldn’t even hit double digits.
The recap of the boys game is brief as the Wildcats only managed to hit two field goals and two free throws the entire game, losing 38-6 to an angry Rocket squad that was still smarting after their first loss of the season after falling to Centertown by three just the game before to set their conference record at 6-1. Coach Will Pannell admitted after the demolition that it was the best his team has played all year long, the loss to Centertown perhaps lighting a fire under his squad as it moves forward through the season and into the post-season.
Jayden Carter was top man in the rout, scoring 12 while Caiden Warren had nine.
The girls had very little trouble with Dibrell either as their frenetic full-court press prevented the Lady Wildcats from even crossing mid-court for much of the first quarter. The end result of the forced turnovers was a 17-4 lead by the hosts after one. The rest of the game saw the girls on cruise control as the Lady Rockets improved to a perfect 10 up and zero down on the season. Princess Penazola was Queen of Westwood for the evening, leading her squad with 10 points while Bryleigh Gray and Kenna Seviers contributed eight apiece to the cause.
