Thursday evening was busy for area sports teams. Some teams had their final game of the regular season while others began postseason play.
Lady Raiders volleyball drops match against White County
Coffee County High School traveled to Sparta Thursday to take on White County for their final match of the regular season. The Lady Raiders were unable to follow up on a home win against Shelbyville the night before and lost 2-1.
CHS carried the first set 25-19. The Lady Warriors jumped back to win the next two sets 25-21 and 25-19. The match was best two out of three, giving White County the win.
Sophomore Lexi Bryan led the Lady Raiders with nine kills. Junior Keelie Hillis led the team in aces with three and freshman Kiya Ferrell had nine digs. Junior Amanda Mukai finished with 11 assists.
Coffee Middle volleyball falls in tournament match
The Lady Raiders traveled to Harris Middle for their opening match of the CTC Tournament. Taking on top-ranked Warren County, the Lady Raiders dropped both sets for a 2-0 shutout by the Lady Pioneers. The loss puts an end to Coffee Middle's season. The Lady Raiders finished 1-14.
Coffee Middle football falls to White County
Coffee Middle School's football team traveled to Sparta Thursday for a makeup of Tuesday's weather-cancelled game against White County. The Red Raiders were unable put up much of an offensive effort in a 40-8 rout by the Warriors.
Coffee Middle's only touchdown of the night came off a 65-yard fumble return by Nate Luttrell with a two-point conversion from Elijah Clemmons. The loss brings the Raiders' season to a close.
