Lady Raider soccer shuts out Lincoln County

Central High School soccer traveled to Fayetteville on Tuesday, August 20 for its season opener against Lincoln County. The Lady Raiders didn't give up a goal in a 2-0 district victory and gave new head coach Lee Xixis his first win.

The Lady Raiders got on the board in the first half when Maddy Jones found the net in the 26th minute.

In the second half, CHS held off greater offensive pressure from the Lady Falcons to keep them scoreless. Jenna Garretson made it a 2-0 game in the 78th minute for the game's final goal.

Lady Raider keeper Lucy Riddle had five saves.

CMS football falls short against Baylor

Coffee County Middle School football returned to Carden-Jarrell Field on Tuesday, August 20 for its home opener against Chattanooga's Baylor School. The Red Raiders battled back from a large fourth-quarter deficit, but fell to Baylor 24-14. 

CMS went down early in the second quarter when Baylor took an 8-0 lead with 5:59 left in the half. The Raiders continued to fall behind as Baylor took a 24-0 lead into the fourth quarter. 

Cole Pippenger got CMS on the board in the fourth on an eight-yard run to the end zone. A missed two-point conversion made it a 24-6 game. Blayne Myers followed up with a 30-yard touchdown run. A two-point conversion from Pippenger gave the Raiders 14 points. This would be the game's final score.

CMS volleyball falls to Warren County

Coffee County Middle School volleyball traveled to McMinnville on Tuesday, August 20 to take on Warren County Middle School. The Lady Raiders fell for the first time this season in a straight-set 2-0 loss. 

The Lady Raiders went down in the first set 12-25. After the team won three previous second sets in games this season, CMS was unable to keep the streak alive and fell in the second 15-25.

The JV team won its match 2-1. 

Westwood soccer falls to St. Andrews-Sewanee

Westwood Middle School girls' soccer kicked off its season at home on Tuesday, August 20, against St. Andrews-Sewanee.

The young Lady Rockets were unable to net a goal in 3-0 loss.
