CHS golf competes at McMinnville tournament

Central High School golf hit the road on Tuesday, September 3, to take part in the Keith Maxwell Invitational at McMinnville Country Club.  

The boys' team took seventh place out ten teams with a total score of 375. Chase Hancock led the way with a score of 85 for the team's low round. 

In the girls' competition, Maggie Crouch led the Lady Raider effort with a score of 116. 

Cookeville took first place in the boys' competition with a 322. The Tullahoma girls won their division with a team score of 161. 

CMS football blanks South Franklin on homecoming

Coffee County Middle School football continued its impressive play from last week on Tuesday, September 3. The Red Raiders hosted South Franklin for their homecoming game and did not surrender a touchdown in a 40-0 victory.

CMS kicked it off on their first offensive drive with a 42-yard touchdown from Cole Pippenger. Jackson Shemwell followed on the Raiders' next drive with another run to the end zone. 

By the close of the first quarter, CMS was ahead 21-0 and went into halftime up 34-0. 

Similar to their first drive of the game, the Raiders again struck on their first offensive possession of the second half. Shemwell completed a pass to Ethan Hargrove, who took it 48 yards to the end zone to make it a 40-0 game.

Shemwell threw two passes, both of which were completed for touchdowns. Pippenger ran for over 60 yards on three carries, including the opening touchdown run.
