Jaden Talley of CHS tennis picked up a 9-8 singles win and followed up with an 8-5 doubles victory Friday.

CHS tennis splits with Tullahoma

Central High School tennis hosted Tullahoma Friday, April 12, at Raider Academy. The Red Raiders jumped out for a 6-1 win while the Lady Raiders fell 4-3.

In boys' singles, CHS picked up wins from Benedict Edinger (8-5), Jaden Talley (9-8), Johnathon Welch (8-6) and Landon Booth (8-1). The doubles team of Edinger and Talley won 8-5. The team of Welch and Jonah Rollman added an 8-1 victory.

In girls' matches, CHS had singles wins from Wren Lawson (8-3) and Emma Fulks (8-0). The doubles team of Fulks and Lauren Perry won 8-2.

WMS softball falls to Moore County

Taking on Moore County in a makeup game Friday, April 12, Westwood Middle softball battled back but fell just short in a 7-6 loss. 

After trailing 3-0 in the third inning, the Lady Rockets got on the board when Audri Patton came home on a bunt from Abby Clark. 

Moore County added another four in the top of the sixth, but Westwood responded in the bottom of the inning. Aleah Wakefield got it started with a grounder to shortstop to drive in Brooklyn Blake. Two at-bats later, Abby Clark knocked a fly ball out to right field, bringing in Cali Clark and Wakefield.

A Paisley Campbell line drive to left sent in Patton and Abby Clark to tighten Moore's lead to 7-6, but the Lady Rockets were unable to add any more in the loss.

Westwood finished with seven hits, led by Emma Kidder with three. Kidder pitched through all seven innings, striking out eight and surrendering seven hits and seven runs.

CMS soccer beats Cascade

Taking on Cascade Friday, April 12 at home, Coffee Middle soccer took off early and powered through for a 2-1 victory. 

Javier Hernandez kicked it off for the Raiders with a goal in the first half. Manny Gonzalez added another in the second to make it a 2-0 lead. Cascade responded with a goal on a penalty kick, but CMS didn't let them add another to get the win.
