Makos take summer race championships

The Manchester Makos wrapped up their 2019 summer meet schedule on Saturday, July 13 in impressive fashion at Sewanee. The team captured a pair of first-place finishes at the Summer Race League Championship in the combined and girls' categories.

In the combined team category, the Makos tallied 2,515.5 points to stay ahead of the second-place Sewanee Tigersharks at 1,828.5 points.

In the girls' division, the team finished with 1,383 points. The second-place Athens Swim Team followed at 669.5 points.

The boys' team took second place with a final score of 988.5 points, just shy of the Sewanee Tigersharks' first-place 993.

CHS volleyball competes at Cumberland camp

Central High School volleyball closed out a three-day preseason team camp at Cumberland University on Saturday, July 13. The Lady Raiders went 2-2 on Friday and followed with a 2-0 finish on Saturday to win the camp tournament. 

On Friday, CHS picked up wins over Mt. Juliet Christian and Cannon County and lost to Clarksville Northeast and Gallatin.

The team opened Saturday play with a win over the University School of Nashville. This was followed by a rematch victory over Mt. Juliet Christian.
